Dr Simon Fynn

Dr Simon Fynn is a Consultant Cardiologist at Royal Papworth Hospital. He has also been working at the Cambridge Heart Clinic since its inception in 2008.
Dr Fynn is a member of the Clinical Advisory Group of the Anglia Stroke & Heart Network and is the Network Lead for Electrophysiology. His training began at the University of Cambridge, where he read medicine at St. John’s College. He undertook specialist training in cardiology in Manchester before spending two years at the Royal Melbourne Hospital, Australia, one of the world’s leading centres in cardiac electrophysiology.
He specialises in the investigation and treatment of cardiac arrhythmias and undertakes radiofrequency catheter ablation. He has a particular interest in the commonest heart rhythm disorder (atrial fibrillation) and received an MD from the University of Cambridge for his research in this field.In recent times he has led the development of a Family Cardiac Screening Clinic, where family members of those who have suffered a sudden and unexpected cardiac death can be screened for inherited cardiac conditions.
He has published numerous clinical and research papers on the mechanisms and treatment of cardiac arrhythmias, and also on the treatment of cardiac failure using Cardiac Resynchronisation Therapy.
